The Center for Career Support provides a various type of support for your career-paths, employment, and development.
We are open to all Tohoku University Students. Please make use of us for chosing your career and development.
You need a reservation in advance, to use career advising and participate in some programs.

Career Advising

Appointment for career advising is available on our website.
Read the manual for how to make a reservation and the notes carefully before you make an appointment.
*Around the end of each month, we maintenance to post the next month’s appointment slots.
Note that reservations will be temporarily unavailable during maintenance.

Note that career advising may be suspended due to changes in circumstances.

 

Notes
  1. Set up your DC email address (student ID number address) to get the notifications regarding appointments.
    *Click here to see how to set up DC email.

  2. The second letter of the student ID number enrolling in the Class of year 2020 is the number “0” (zero). That is not “O” (O).
  3. When you want to cancel your reservation, contact us about your cancellation as soon as possible.
    If a certain amount of your appointment time has passed without notice to us, we may suspend your next appointment for a certain period, and you cannot reserve career advising
    as a certain period.

    (Up to the day before) →Cancel from the URL in the reservation confirmation e-mail.
    (On the day of the appointment) →Cancel by calling 022-795-4705 at least 2 hours prior to the appointment time.

  4. Face-to-face career advising is held in the adviser’s room of the Center for Career Support. As the door is opening, it cannot insulate sound completely.
    Please confirm the method at the reservation page since face-to-face career advising may not be available depending on the BCP level of Tohoku University.

Reading and checking out the Book

Various documents, books, and newspapers (Nihon Keizai Shimbun) are available for reading. Books of the industries, occupations, and jobs, reference books and workbooks of SPI, for civil servants, etc. are available for your job hunting.
Books and the other can be checked out for up to 10 days.

  3. Enter the title of the book you want to read in the search window.
  4. Click the “閲覧” button under the title of the book in the search results.

at off-campus

  1. Access to eBooks library at Tohoku University.
  2. Click on “you have an accreditation account, click here.
  3. Select “Tohoku University” for “institution” and click “Select”.
  4. Enter your Tohoku University ID and password.
  5. Enter the title of the book you want to read in the search window.
  6. Click the “閲覧” button under the title of the book in the search results.

About viewing the list of alumni

Center for Career Support stores and discloses the list of alumni sent to us by companies and organizations.
Please check the list below that the companies and organizations have sent to us their list of alumni.
*The list is available at any time. Check the latest information at Center for Career Support.
*We are asking you to show your student ID to confirm your status at reception.
*For national public officers, refer to the “list of contact parsons at each ministry and agency for visits to alumni of government officers” from the National Personnel Authority.

Read and check the information when you view the list of alumni
  1. DO NOT use information in the list for any purpose other than your job hunting.
  2. In the presence of staff while you view the list.
  3. We do not introduce or mediate between alumni. We only provide information. (You must contact them by yourself after reading the list.)
  4. We do not respond to inquiries by TEL or email regarding the availability of the list. (Check the list below)
  5. Only handwritten transcriptions are permitted: photocopies are not permitted for any reason.

The booth for online interview

The booth can be used for interviews with companies and organizations, for job hunting. Take sufficient precautions to prevent infection.

*Reservations are required in advance.
*Available hours: weekdays 10:00-17:00(last reservation time at 15:00)
*The reservation of multiple times is impossible
*Time per once available for the use
You can use it until two hours including cleanup the booth from preparations
* Please use it after checking the following.
◇There is no PC for online interview. Bring your own PC, the headset (earphone or microphones) to avoid a voice around.
◇That cannot shut out the sound in the perfection.
 The booth is installed in the open space in Center for Career Support.
◇After the use, please cooperate with the cleaning such as a desk, the chair.
◇ You may not ask another person to take a video or photos. Please use it by yourself only.

Information for part-time job on-campus

Tohoku University provides information for students who want to work part-time. You choose to work part-time, make sure that it does not interfere with your studies.

●Preparedness
Be aware of your responsibilities as a student and work diligently to meet the expectations of employers.

●precautions
1. Unexpected accidents setting to work may happen. Confirm duties contents and working conditions enough.
2. Please do not do the part-time job, it cannot take measures of infecting it or
becomes closer distance with indefinite one,
3.International students who want to engage in part-time job are required to obtain a permit to activity other than that permitted under the status of residence issued by the immigration bureau.

The Center for Career Support posts information for part-time job on-campus on our website. After checking information carefully, contact the parson in charge of part-time job that you want to apply for directly.
If the working conditions differ from those described, or you are involved in an accident.
Please report it immediately to the Center for Career Support.

An internship is a system in which students gain practical or training work experience at a company and other organization.
The purpose of an internship is to work, the main purpose of a part-time job is earn some money. The purpose of an internship is to make use of the experience in researching and selecting companies when searching to employment, and to clarify what students will learn at the university.

We need a lot of time for procedure about many of the internships hold by public officer, because it needs to application through faculty, graduate school, or Center for Career Support.
If you want to apply for an internship through the University, please gather information on your own and contact the Center for Career Support through the Academic Affairs Section as soon as possible.

We provide information on internships that have been notified to the Center by government and municipal offices, as well as information on internship that have been applied for by students.

From January 2023, you can use the “Tokyo VIP Lounge” for free of charge for your job hunting and internship in capital city area around Tokyo.
“Second Campus Shinjuku School Lounge” is not available, so please use the Tokyo VIP Lounge.

Days and hours of use

All days 6:00-23:00(except year-end and new year holidays)
Check the Tokyo VIP Lounge website for the latest information of operation and business holidays.

Others

◇select “up to 3 hours” or “luggage storage(up to 1 luggage) + up to 2 hours” plan at the reception desk.
If you exceed the free usage time, you may continue to use the lounge for a fee (at your own expense).

◇Submit an email or other documents that shows the details of your job-search or internship.
◇You can use it without making a reservation

Please enter your job hunting activity report into the Student Affairs Information System along with your job offer report.
